Recognizing improvement in, or development of any new multi-room audio sound package that provides control, amplification, and distribution capabilities to outfit a home or dwelling with a multi-zone system; the package should be devices such as keypads, preamplification, and amplification BUT NOT loudspeakers.
- Multi-Zone Amplifier/Receiver
Recognizing improvement in, or development of any new electronic component that's designed to actively service two or more rooms or zones as an amplifier or a receiver. For amplifiers, the component should include provisions such as remote triggering and daisy chain capabilities. For receivers, the unit should incoporporate amplification for at least two zones and at least one source such as AM/FM radio and satellite radio, as well as multiple inputs for other sources that include CD and DVD players, cable and satellite set-top boxes, digital-music players and turntables. Home theater receivers without any multi-zone capabilities are not considered in this category.

Recognizing improvement in, or development of any new wireless or other retrofit-enabling solution technology, including loudspeakers designed for use as a rear or surround,that transmit or receives audio/video signals. Also included in this category can be devices designed to extend audio and video signals, such as Cat 5 extenders, throughout the home.

Recognizing improvement in, or development of any new home theater or multiroom source components, such as satellite/AM/FM/HD radio tuners, CD and DVD/Blu-ray players, iPod docks, and CD and DVD jukebox devices. 3D capable products should be included in this category.

Recognizing improvement in, or development of any new components that allow end users to tailor their listening and/or viewing preferences via media storage, streaming and management technologies. Audio only and A/V media servers will be accepted for in this category.

- Whole House Control
Recognizing improvement in, or development of any new device that enables the control of audio/video source components, lighting control, HVAC or security, and/or provides the signal routing of audio and/or video signals in a multi-room audio/video system without providing amplification.
- Multi-Room Touchscreen
Recognizing improvement in, or development of a new graphical user interface (either dedicated or iPhone/iPad) that is either mounted in a wall, placed on a tabletop or hand held to provide a user with a visually driven, icon-based way to access and control their whole-house automation, home theater or multi-room audio/video system. Separate winners will be selected for dedicated/non-dedicated devices.
- HVAC Integration System/Connected Thermostats
Recognizing improvement in, or development of new smart thermostats with remote access programmability that are controllable by whole-house automation systems.
- Keypads, Controls, Remotes & IR Extenders
Recognizing improvement in, or development of any new in-wall keypads or control for remote in-room control. Excluded from this category are touchscreen controls.
- Lighting Controls & Accessories
Recognizing improvement in, or development of new construction or retrofittable system or component that makes up a complete lighting control system or contributes to the expansion of control system options. Items like wallplates that are not integral to the functions of a system are not applicable.
- Integrated Security System/Module/Device
Recognizing improvement in, or development of a component or system for new construction or retrofit that makes up a complete security control system or contributes to the expansion of control system options. This category can include hardwired or wireless systems, and CCTV cameras for residential use.
Household Enhancements/Installation Accessories
- Gaming Consoles & Systems
Recognizing improvement in, or development of any computer or stand-alone device that facilitates gaming activities. These products need to have the ability to integrate into a home theater or multi-room A/V system, as well as the ability to support other gaming accessories such as seating, transducers, 480p video and at least two-channel audio.

Recognizing improvement in, or development of any product used to manage, protect or condition electrical power or to manage the temperature of A/V system components.
- Outdoor A/V

Enclosures for these transducers must be at least weather resistant.
